Leafing through Natural Scotland

31 July 2013

Summer Exhibition and Book Festival

Publishing Scotland is delighted to be working with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh to celebrate this Year of Natural Scotland 2013. We put together a weekend book festival and a beautiful exhibition of books and artefacts from our members.

The Book Festival - Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June

The book festival was a great success with a variety of wonderful speakers, walks and storytelling.

Visit the showcase page for a selection of images from the weekend.

The Exhibition - 11 May to 31 July

You can see some of the books in the exhibition in the leaflet we've published to accompany the event. The display highlights Scotland's natural beauty through its great variety of writing and publishing. And what better space to do it in than the Botanics!

The exhibition showcases some of the many of titles that come out of Scotland each year. There are titles on: foraging, gardening and growing your own vegetables; studies of wild flowers, woodlands and fossils; explorations of munros, rivers and oceans; children's titles highlighting seabirds and beautiful coastlines; and a celebration of whisky, delicious seafood and the many locations in which to enjoy them!

You can also buy the books in the Botanics Shop.

The exhibition runs from 11 May to 31 July 2013, in the Gateway Gallery, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (West Gate), Arboretum Place, Edinburgh EH3 5NZ. The Gateway Gallery is upstairs at the John Hope Gateway: accessed direct from stairs at the back of the ground floor or through the restaurant.

We are also featuring a book each month on our website.
