DC Thomson: Features Editor

DCT Media has an exciting opportunity for a Features Editor to join the team of a fantastic new magazine project. You will already be an experienced Features Editor, or an exceptional features journalist with a passion for magazines. Either way, you'll be bursting with enthusiasm and ideas and the know-how to turn those ideas into great reads.

This is a rare chance to join a magazine at development stage and to contribute your own suggestions for a magazine packed with great features.

You will be a brilliant multi-tasker and just as happy writing an in-depth feature as you are commissioning articles and liaising with contributors. You will be responsible for the smooth flow of features for each issue - that covers everything from spreads on the latest box sets, to what's new in health, along with celebrity and human interest reads. Your instinct for what appeals to mature women and what they love to read will be absolutely spot-on.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

  •     Producing a detailed features schedule
  •     Commissioning in-house and freelance features to deadline
  •     Sourcing fabulous images
  •     Writing regular franchise features/your own stories - you will still have a passion for writing
  •     Liaising with the design team
  •     Supporting and deputising for the Editor
  •     Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of what mature, modern women want to read
  •     Being aware of current media law and legislation
  •     Occasional out of hours working

Interested? You will be degree qualified or equivalent, have excellent verbal and written skills and knowledge of content management systems.

To apply for this role, please visit the DC Thomson website and follow their online application process and submit a CV and cover letter telling DCT why you would like to be considered for the role. Please include three feature ideas for modern, age 55+ women.

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 35 hours per week from our Meadowside Office.  We offer a generous package including 34 days holiday, Health Cash Plan, Onsite Staff Gym, excellent Pension, a competitive salary, and many more staff discounts and benefits.

Deadline for application is Wednesday 12 December 2018.
