Floris Books: Community and Engagement Marketer

Indie publisher Floris Books is looking for an open-minded self-starter for the new position of Community and Engagement Marketer. Although best-known for our award-winning Scottish children's books, Floris Books also publishes non-fiction in a variety of niche areas including Steiner-Waldorf education, biodynamics, The Christian Community and anthroposophy.

This new role is not a book marketing role and we are looking for someone with experience outside the publishing industry. The role will be focused on marketing to, and engaging with, our niche communities with the dual aims of:

  • Facilitating a greater connection between Floris and the communities for which it publishes
  • Providing support to the communities in their own marketing activities

We're looking for someone special for this brand-new position. You will be:

  • Self-motivated, used to plate-spinning and able to push through new initiatives
  • A confident networker and relationship builder, with experience of managing disparate stakeholders
  • A natural problem-solver who thinks creatively
  • A seasoned marketer with at least 3 years experience

It would be great if you had:

  • Experience of third-sector marketing
  • Knowledge or experience of any of the non-fiction areas mentioned above

What you'll do:

We're looking for someone to make this job their own so a lot will be down to you. But here are a few things you'll definitely do:

  • Create and execute marketing campaigns for organisations and events
  • Use your creative copywriting skills to craft compelling and persuasive messages
  • Build strong relationships with organisations and a variety of individuals (including teachers, parents, priests and students)
  • Be a brand ambassador for Floris Books
  • Become a valued member of our marketing team, led by the department head and our Sales & Marketing manager

The practical stuff:

  • The job is a part-time position (with flexible working hours; exact hours for discussion with you) starting on an initial 12-month contract with the intention of becoming permanent
  • You'll be based in our Edinburgh office with the potential to sometimes work from home
  • You'll be free for regular UK travel (averaging bi-monthly) and have a clean UK driver's licence
  • Salary and position dependent on experience
  • Ideally you'll be able to join us in June 2018

What we need from you:

Please email the following to

  • Your CV (no more than two A4 pages in Word or PDF) with covering email
  • A 2 minute (max) film introducing yourself and saying why you're the ideal person for this job. We won't judge you on your cinematography skills! Please upload via WeTransfer.
  • Your current salary and notice period

Closing date: 5pm on Wednesday 28 February 2018

If you have any questions about the position please email and we'll do our best to respond quickly.
