Hodder Gibson: Editorial Assistant/Administrator
Fixed term: June - December 2018
We are looking for a well-organised individual, with a keen eye
for detail, to assist in the delivery of the SQA Past Papers and
other revision and school publishing.
Hodder Gibson is the Scottish educational publishing division of

within Hachette UK. We are market leaders in the production and
provision of high-quality educational resources at upper secondary
level for school and home.
This fixed-term role is focused around assisting with the
successful and timely delivery of the 2018 SQA Past Papers project,
with additional responsibilities to provide editorial and project
work on other areas of the Hodder Gibson list.
You will be expected to have excellent proofreading skills and
be able to effectively brief and manage external freelancers and
other stakeholders to assist in ensuring the SQA Past Papers are
produced efficiently and to the highest standard.
You will carry out editorial and administrative assistance on
other aspects of the Hodder Gibson list, including picture
research, copyright permissions clearing, ePub checking, invoice
raising, and author and freelance liaison.
In conjunction with our Production department, you will be
responsible for managing reprints across the Hodder Gibson list,
including communicating with authors and tracking updates and
amendments through to press.
- Working with the editorial team, to take projects through all
stages of production to bound/finished copies, including
consultation with author, editing, proofreading, clearing
permissions, picture research, briefing freelance editors, liaising
with the production team.
- Ensuring all proofs are checked, liaising with authors at all
proof and artwork stages.
- Monitoring progress of allocated titles, maintaining schedules,
adhering to deadlines and reporting on progress.
- Assisting picture research with progress chasing/picture
selection, etc., as required.
