Hodder Gibson: Publisher

Hodder Gibson has published highly successful textbooks, revision series (including 'How to Pass') and SQA Past Papers across the breadth of the curriculum. We are looking for an experienced Publisher to drive the development of our Service to Scotland's teachers and learners, providing the best-possible resources for all. You'll be the creative and commercial drive behind our Servicefor teachers and learners, commissioning print and digital materials. You'll bring the market focus and commercial drive that can develop our Service significantly.

The role includes line-management responsibility for the in-house editorial team.

  • Work collaboratively to develop and agree our publishing plans for Scottish schools, so that we are well positioned for the future and able to deliver profitable, long-term growth. 
  • Own and drive our research into Scotland's schools. Maintain detailed market knowledge so that publishing plans are well-informed, customer-focused and positioned strongly against our competitors, creating growth over and above those competitors.
  • Maintain and build influential relationships with key partners and potential partners in education.
  • To work effectively with authors, so that quality, market-focused materials are produced (print, digital and mixed media) and delivery deadlines and publishing schedules are met; to develop the author team as long-standing partners in the growth of the list.
  • Lead, manage and develop our highly effective in-house editorial team.
  • To work constructively with your dedicated Marketing and Sales teams to help build creative and effective campaigns, playing a role in driving sales to meet budgeted targets.
  • To represent Hodder Gibson effectively to the outside world so that we continue to be known as a valuable partner in the education market.
