National Library of Scotland: Board Members

Would you like to be part of the National Library of Scotland's leadership over the next four years, in the run-up to our centenary in 2025?

We are a reference library with world-class collections. We are also Scotland's largest library and one of the major research libraries in Europe. Our collections range from rare historical documents to online journals, covering every subject. As custodians of around 30 million items held in trust for the people of Scotland, we preserve the memory of the nation.

We are looking for up to four enthusiastic Board members with particular experience in fundraising, widening access, human resources, and finance and resource management to share their expertise. We would like the Board also to have a broad geographical representation.

The new appointees will formally take up post from 1 March 2019 for a period of four years. The posts are not remunerated but reasonable travel and subsistence costs will be met.

There are two awareness events open to prospective applicants. They take place on Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 October 2018.

The closing date is Friday 26 October 2018.
