National Library of Scotland: Media and External Relations Manager

We are seeking a Media and External Relations Manager to join our small, dynamic marketing and communications team and to build on recent successes, contributing to our ambitious goals. This is an exciting, varied and high profile role, focused on promoting the Library, its collections and services across all media channels. It requires excellent collaborative working, diplomacy and professionalism. 

This is a unique, specialist role within the Library responsible for the delivery of effective external and internal communications across all audiences. It manages a team of two marketing specialists and has primary responsibility for the Library's media relations. It is central to the achievement of the Library's key objective to raise awareness and understanding of its work. It also plays a vital role in enhancing and protecting the Library's reputation. 

The ideal candidate will have a background in journalism and/or PR. You will be used to working at senior level with Chief Executives and Board members, and will have a demonstrable track record in delivering successful media strategy and plans.

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and will be able to multi task and meet set deadlines. Creative flair, excellent interpersonal and project management skills are also essential, and it would be advantageous if experience had previously been gained within a cultural, educational or charity setting
