Publishing Scotland: Part-time Programme Support Officer


Publishing Scotland, the network, trade and development body for the book publishing industry in Scotland, is seeking to recruit a part-time Programme Support Officer at their offices, based in central Edinburgh with good transport links. We are a small team of six people. The hours are flexible, and remuneration will be based upon skills and experience.

As a Programme Support Officer, you will provide effective programme support to the managers in the team for their areas of responsibility, including the training programme, bookfair administration, Fellowship Programme, attendance and organisation of meetings, maintaining and updating a member database, and some support to the CEO. As a membership organisation and a charity, we work across the arts and business in the services we offer to publishers and the wider network of authors, editors, libraries, and freelance professionals.

Publishing Scotland is a company limited by guarantee and a charity, regulated by OSCR, the Scottish Charity Regulator.

Salary: circa £18k - pro rata - equivalent to three days per week

Job Title: Programme Support Officer

Hours: 24 hrs per week


Key tasks

  • Provide assistance to the Training Manager with organisation, facilitation and running of the engagement/ training sessions and organising training materials
  • Organises meetings and staff travel
  • Provide support to Member Services Manager with liaising with membership
  • Provide admin support to CEO on various programmes
  • To undertake administration and monitoring of projects
  • Office admin - ordering supplies, answering enquiries etc

Key requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) including ability to communicate effectively internally and externally using good inter-personal skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Windows 10, Microsoft Office 365 and Office 2013 applications and to be proficient in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, email and the internet.
  • Previous work in a book-related environment is desirable but non-essential
  • Professional demeanour and presentation at all times
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing needs
  • Excellent level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Organised and methodical
