Witherby Seamanship - Digital Content Assistant

Witherby Publishing Group is a specialist publisher of marine training, reference and regulatory material for the shipping industry.

Our portfolio consists of over 600 specialist titles in shipping, insurance and energy sectors and our books, training manuals and CD ROMs are exported to more than 110 countries around the world each year.

We require an enthusiastic Digital Content Assistant, with a keen eye for detail, to join our team in Livingston on a 12-Month paid internship.


As Digital Content Assistant you will play a key role in producing industry leading work on not only our own publications but also for industry bodies.

The main responsibilities of  Digital Content Assistant will include:

• Producing electronic books (eBooks) to an extremely high standard

• Providing eBook update administration

• Providing Seamanship Library compilation support

• eBook and Seamanship Library testing

• Compiling and editing update documents for publication

• Providing first line support for publication processes

• Data CD and USB replication

• Assisting in the compilation of training literature and other internal documentation

• Providing first line IT support to both internal staff and external customers

• Liaising with internal teams to ensure that requirements are met in a timely manner

• Ensuring that work is carried out in accordance with exacting in-house and client standards

The main requirements for this role are:

• Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office

• Knowledge of documentation and administration processes

• The ability to work effectively in a team

• The ability to communicate at all levels and in a professional manner

• Good time management skills, able to work to tight deadlines

• Excellent attention to detail, able to work to a high degree of accuracy

Other desirable qualities include:

• Editing / Documentation compilation experience

• Experience of customer support

• A dynamic and energetic approach

• A flexible, hard-working attitude, willing to learn new skills and processes
