Gillian Macrosson: new Witherbys MD

Witherby Publishing Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Gillian Macrosson as Managing Director.  Currently Publishing Manager at Witherbys, Gillian will take over the role in September 2017.

A publishing graduate of Napier University, Gillian began her career at Chambers Harrap.  Subsequent appointments followed at Blackwell Scientific Publications within their Journal Production/Content Management division.  Gillian spent several years as Senior Production Manager overseeing Wiley's global Health Sciences journals list.  Moving to Witherbys in September 2012 as Publishing Manager, Gillian has overseen the publishing of over 130 Witherby titles.

Chief Executive Officer, Iain Macneil said of the appointment: 'Gillian has been an integral part of our team since 2012 and her hard work and dedication over the past few years made her the natural choice for this appointment.  Gillian brings a wealth of publishing and management experience to her new role.  This is an exciting time for Witherbys and we are looking forward to the years ahead.'

Gillian quoted: 'I am incredibly proud to be taking on the role of Managing Director for one of the oldest but also one of the most innovative and forward thinking independent publishers in the world. I am looking forward to developing the Witherby portfolio and services and to building on Witherby's reputation as the premier provider of publications for the maritime industry.  I would like to thank the board of directors for their support and I am eager to commence my role with the help of my wonderful Witherby family.'

Witherby Publishing Group, which was formed from a JV between Witherbys and Seamanship International, is based in Livingston, Scotland and run by partners Iain Macneil and Kat Heathcote. Iain is an ex-mariner who set up Seamanship International to design and develop training and reference materials for the shipping industry. Kat, who has a background in the energy business including with BP and Wood MacKenzie, joined the company in 2004.
