Halfdan Freihow

Halfdan Freihow was born 1959 in Mexico City, and grew up in Mexico, Norway, Spain and Belgium. He has degrees in literature, the history of ideas and the history of religion from the University of Oslo. He has been a literary critic in various national newspapers and radio, and translated a number of works from English and French into Norwegian, for example André Gide, Michael Chabon, Don DeLillo and Norman Mailer. He was editor of the literary review 'Vinduet' and editor and publishing director at Aschehoug and Stenersens. Since 2005 he has been publisher and co-owner of Font (www.fontforlag.no). He is author of the memoir Dear Gabriel (published in some 20 countries) and the novel Du er ikke sann (You are Unbelievable). He lives in Haugesund on Norway's West coast with his family.
