Rising costs worry for publishing industry in Scotland

Independent publishers, a literary agent and the Chief Executive of Publishing Scotland are among publishing industry figures in Scotland quoted in a recent Scotland on Sunday article by Alistair Grant.

Publishers Robert Davidson (Sandstone Press) and Laura Jones (404 Ink) and literary agent Robbie Guillory raise concerns about the effect increased costs will have on independent publishers and their authors. Publishing Scotland’s Chief Executive Marion Sinclair said rising costs coupled with Brexit and the pandemic are making things very difficult for small and medium-size publishers in Scotland and the UK.
