Jessica Neale is Rights Professional of the Year 2022

Congratulations to Jessica Neale of Canongate Books. Jessica won the British Book Awards Rights Professional of the Year 2022 and received the trophy on 23 May at a ceremony in London.

Congratulations too go to our members who were shortlisted in other Trade categories:

  • Marketing Strategy of the Year: Heather McDaid and Laura Jones at 404 Ink for their Inklings Series Launch
  • Designer of the Year: Rafaela Romaya at Canongate
  • The British Book Awards for Export: Canongate
  • Academic, Educational & Professional Publisher of the Year: Edinburgh University Press. Four of the other nominees also have a presence in Scotland: Bloomsbury Professional, Collins, Hodder Education Group and Jessica Kingsley Publishers.
  • Rights Professional of the Year: Jessica Neale at Canongate
  • Independent Publisher of the Year: Canongate
  • Publisher of the Year: Canongate

The previously announced Small Press Scotland winner – Cranachan Publishing – was also in contention for overall Small Press winner.

Scottish booksellers also featured in the shortlists:

  • Children’s Bookseller of the Year: The Edinburgh Bookshop
  • Individual Bookseller of the Year: Olivia Kekewich at The Edinburgh Bookshop

The Bookseller’s British Book Awards, aka The Nibbies, represent the best of the book trade, showcasing books, bookshops, agents and publishers.
