The translator of a book published by Charco Press has been shortlisted for one of the Society of Authors annual Translation Prizes. Annie McDermott is shortlisted for the Premio Valle Inclán for a translation of Brickmakers by Selva Almada. The Premio Valle Inclán is an annual prize of £2,000 for translations into English of full-length Spanish language works of literary merit and general interest.

There is a total prize fund worth £15,000, and the winners – along with the winner of the TLS-Risa Domb/Porjes Prize for Translation from the Hebrew – will be announced in an online celebration on Wednesday 8 February 2023.
