The Booksellers Association (BA) has reported that its membership is the highest in ten years (1,072) with the number of independent bookshops in the UK and Ireland increasing for the sixth year in a row. Most independent booksellers in the UK and Ireland are members of the BA. Its survey shows continued growth in bookshops since 2016 when numbers were under 900. Night Owl Books in East Linton was one of the new bookshops to open in 2022.
