Audiobooks are on the rise, ebooks have their devotees, but
printed books are still the most popular choice for readers.
Books can be printed and shipped from anywhere in the world but
the UK is fortunate to still have some of the best printers
around.
Bell &
Bain (Glasgow) and Martins the Printers (just over the border in
Berwick-upon-Tweed) print and bind books for local and not-so-local
publishers. Printers' websites are a good source of information
about book formats and sizes.
You can find information about who printed a book on its imprint
page.
In 2008, Scotland celebrated 500 years of Scottish Printing. You
can read about it on the National Library of Scotland website.
