Harper Macleod logo for webinars

We are delighted that Scottish legal firm Harper Macleod is running a new series of its popular free webinars for publishers. Jamie Watt at Harper Macleod is an expert in publishing law and other intellectual property. The webinars are a mixture of updates on core subjects like intellectual property and data protection along with some new topics including a guide to the publishing lifecycle and recruitment law. This event is the seventh in the series and focuses on equality, diversity and inclusion.

When: 12:00 to 13:00 on Tuesday 20 June 2023
Format: online (Zoom webinar)

More so now than ever before have considerations relating to equality, diversity and inclusion been important in the context of the modern workplace. This webinar will provide attendees with an overview of their legal obligations in this respect, describe how best to approach dealing with these obligations, both on a practical and legal level, and look at various case studies to see how matters might work out in practice.

The webinar speaker will be filmed. Attendees will not be filmed. They can ask questions through the webinar chat functions.

Writing for Children: Diversity and Inclusion

This event is part of the Edinburgh International Book Festival 2022.

Join A M Dassu, author of the award-winning book Boy, Everywhere and Fight Back and director of Inclusive Minds, Julie Farrell, author and co-founder of Inklusion, and Sally Polson, Editorial Director at Floris Books, for an enlightening conversation about the importance and challenges of writing inclusively. Chaired by debut author Yvonne Banham and Onie Tibbitt from the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, our guest panel discusses the steps writers can take to increase diversity, inclusion and representation in writing books for children, avoiding common pitfalls and the role of sensitivity readers.
