Scottish International Storytelling Festival
October 14, 2022 - October 31, 2022

The Scottish International Storytelling Festival is the world’s largest celebration of storytelling, anchored in Scotland, a nation of storytellers. At the core of Scotland’s culture and identity is the hospitable hearth – a place of solidarity and welcome for friend and stranger alike. Round that symbolic fire, experiences and memories are shared, and the torch of oral storytelling is passed on.
The Scottish International Storytelling Festival brings together a large number of Scottish and international storytellers and musicians. This year it takes place from 14-31 October, as the seasons change with long nights drawing families and friends around the hearth, inspired by the Scottish ceilidh tradition and its sense of togetherness – a community gathering full of tales, anecdotes, music, songs and ballads.
Performance, workshops, talks and children’s events radiate out from Scotland’s capital, as the best of Scotland’s storytelling talent merge with invited global guests, offering a plethora of opportunities to celebrate and discover oral traditions and cultural diversity.
