Author showcases Book Week Scotland 2019

Book Week Scotland is Scotland's week-long celebration of stories, books and reading and runs, this year, from 18 to 24 November. There will be hundreds of events across the country in bookshops, libraries, schools, community venues and workplaces, and Publishing Scotland is delighted to take part by hosting three fantastic author showcases, bringing you some of the most exciting authors working in Scotland today.

Love fiction? Memoir? Graphic novels? Crime? Poetry? Childrens and YA books? Then our showcases will have something for every reader.


Glasgow - Tuesday 19 November

On Tuesday 19 November at 6.30pm we host our first showcase at Waterstones Sauchiehall Street. The showcase stars Claire Macleary (the Maggie Laird and Wilma Harcus crime series), Sylvia Hehir (Sea Change), Allan Martin (the McIllvanney-shortlisted The Peat Dead), LM Afrossman (The Unforgiven King), Gary Chudleigh & Tanya Roberts (the Plagued series), Alex Nye (Arguing with the Dead), Kevin P Gilday (Sonnet Youth and Sad Songs for White Boys), Elizabeth Wein (White Eagles), Alan Brown (Overlander) Caro Ramsay (the Anderson and Costello thrillers) and Anne Donovan (Buddha Da and Matilda in Scots).

Linlithgow - Wednesday 20 November

On Wednesday 20 November at 6.30pm our showcase travels to Linlithgow, hosted in the Canal Tea Rooms by the Far From the Madding Crowd bookshop. That night, the entertainment will be provided by Chris McQueer (Hings) William McIntyre (the Robbie Munro legal thrillers), Caroline Logan (The Stone of Destiny), Imogen Stirling (#Hypocrisy), Ross Sayers (Sonny and Me), Ricky Monaghan Brown (Interrobang and Stroke), Eliza Gearty (On the Doors) and Lesley Kelly (the Health of Strangers series).

Edinburgh - Thursday 21 November

Finally on Thursday 21 November, the showcase reaches Edinburgh. Join us at 6.30pm at Waterstones, West End with Lesley Glaister (Aphra's Child), Douglas Watt (the John Mackenzie thrillers), Gerda Stevenson (Quines), Alex Nye (Arguing with the Dead), Helen McClory (The Goldblum Variations), Daniel Shand (the Betty Trask-winning Crocodile), Stephen O' Rourke (The Crown Agent), Anthony O' Neill (The Devil Upstairs) and Olga Wojtas (the Miss Blaine's Prefect series).

Each night, they'll blether, perform and sign books - and there will be refreshments - in three evenings of fine literary entertainment. Each event is free to attend.
