Open Book - Glassboxx

24 June 2020

We hosted a Zoom Open Book session on 24 June 2020 with eBook and audiobook distribution service, Glassboxx. Finn and Simon from Glassboxx presented their services to the attending publishers and answered questions on their plans for the future. If you couldn't make the session, we recorded it, and you can watch it again here.

During the presentation, there was a technical glitch where they were unable to share their videos but see now: eBook video and audiobook video.

To summarise on the questions raised during the presentation:

Syncing - this is currently not present on the Glassboxx apps - so moving between devices will not auto pick-up where the reader last reached -but this is high in the priority list.

Pre-orders - This will be available in July.

Usage stats - We are working on this at the current time - and this actually represents an exciting differentiator from the traditional digital channels: providing the publisher with real user data as to when titles are read, how much has been read, etc

PDFs - We are looking to accommodate PDF content inlate summer/early autumn. We have a number of clients asking for pdf content provision through the services, and realise the importance of this: initially this will be accommodate through the desktop applications.
