The Rise Of Crime Fiction - A Journey To Scotland

12 November 2021

When: 4pm on Friday 12 November 2021

Format: Zoom (part of the Frankfurt Book Fair's The Hof series)

Crime fiction as a way to explore the human condition is on a surge. And Scottish crime writing in particular is doing brilliantly in the UK and the world. Who is behind it? What are their influences? And why do studies of murder and madness from tiny villages in remote Scottish Highlands resonate with readers in China or Australia?  Join this event as part of The Frankfurt Book Fair's The Hof series to have a delve into crime literature in Scotland, inspired by our short film Dark Travellers.

There will be music, meditation and a chance to discuss this popular genre and its future. Speaking about Scottish crime writing will be:

  • Chris Brookmyre, crime writer
  • James Crawford, writer, broadcaster and publisher
  • Francis Bickmore, Publishing Director at Canongate

Register on Zoom for this free event.

Please note that the event starts at 4pm GMT (for the UK)

(the 5pm time shown on the registration form is Central European Standard Time)
