The Scheme: Traineeships at PRH

The Scheme offers six-month paid traineeships at Penguin Random House. There are eighteen on offer.

This year, you could be trying out a new career path in Editorial, Publicity, or Sales. You don't need to know about publishing, have a degree, or any particular educational background to apply.

The Scheme is open to people who identify as one, or both, of the following:

  • Black, Asian or from a minority ethnic group
  • From a lower socio-economic background

When you join The Scheme, you'll spend six months immersed in the day to day running of a publishing house, learning what it's like to be a part of their Editorial, Publicity or Sales team. You'll find out what's needed to get a book into the hands of a reader and the roles different teams play.

Payment: £11,000 (equivalent to £22,000 per annum), plus 12.5 days paid holiday and benefits for the six months you're on the traineeship. You'll also get books. A lot of books.

There will also be support if you need to move to London.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 16 May 2021.
