Contract: Full time

Salary:  circa £28k depending on experience

Job Role

We are currently seeking a Lead Content Editor to join our Editorial Services team, to manage our published print and digital materials, and the QC process for materials in development.

This is a role for an experienced, talented, and highly-skilled content editor who can take ownership of projects, and work with limited supervision. The successful candidate will have 4 or more years experience working in publishing, and a proven track record of mentoring and supporting content editors.

The Lead Content Editor will also be required to complete more complex editorial tasks as required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing editorial fixes to print and digital materials
  • Managing edits and QC for reprints/new print editions
  • Mentoring and supporting content editors
  • Maintaining and updating project documents, including briefs and editorial guidelines
  • Supporting the Head of Editorial Services in the day-to-day running of projects

 

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Excellent editorial skills
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to make recommendations/decisions confidently, quickly and thoughtfully
  • Disciplined, yet flexible enough to adapt to changing priorities
  • Great initiative and a "can do" approach
  • Proven track record of mentoring and supporting content editors

 

Desirable:

  • 4 years or more experience working in print publishing
  • Basic working knowledge of Adobe inDesign (or similar desktop publishing software)
  • Experience of managing projects from set up to completion
  • Experience working on educational materials

Work Environment:

We expect to operate a hybrid working model with some days spent in the Glasgow office and some working from home. Homeworking will be allowed for the remaining days with the postholder being responsible for ensuring they have a suitable working space which supports high performance.
