Acair honoured at Scottish Gaelic Awards
20 November 2019
The Scottish Gaelic Awards reward all
aspects of the Gaelic language and culture across the length and
breadth of the country. This year, the prize for the special
contribution went to Acair, the publisher based on
the Isle of Lewis. Agnes Rennie and Margaret Ann Macleod collected
the prize at the awards ceremony at Glasgow's Marriot Hotel on
Tuesday 19 November 2019.
Ltd was established in 1976 to provide Gaelic language
materials for a ground-breaking bi-lingual education project in the
Western Isles. Over 30 years later they are still one of the
largest publishers of Gaelic language books from children's,
fiction, educational to historical, and have published a huge
variety of books, in English, bi-lingual and Scots.
