Kate Gibb announced as new chair of Publishing Scotland

1 December 2020

Following on from the Publishing Scotland board meeting and AGM on Thursday 19 November 2020, we are delighted to announce that the board have elected Kate Gibb as the new chair to serve for four years in that role. Kate is the Chief Operating Officer of Canongate Books and is also a Director of Severn House Publishers, Letters Live and Leiths School of Food and Wine. She has held a broad range of financial, operational and leadership roles, managing large-scale change projects both in the UK and internationally. These have been in a wide variety of sectors including financial, not for profit, international emergency and development aid, commodities processing and management consultancy. She has over ten years' experience in the publishing industry with the last six being at Canongate.

We also said goodbye and a huge thanks to Jamie Crawford who was on our board for 6 years - four latterly as chair. He was warmly thanked by the board and staff of Publishing Scotland for his service - and going above and beyond in terms of his extra duties as presenter, chair of events, etc. We wish him well for the future.

As Kate was our treasurer up to now, we needed a new treasurer and therefore Fiona McParland, one of our network member on board, has agreed to serve in that capacity. Fiona is Publishing Manager at APS Group Ltd.

We welcomed John McPherson of Bright Red Publishing on board as a co-opted board member for two years and Chani McBain of Floris Books will serve her second term of three years as publisher representative on the board.
