Ray Harryhausen book wins prestigious Rondo Award

4 May 2021

The National Galleries of Scotland (NGS) book Ray Harryhausen: Titan of Cinema by Vanessa Harryhausen has won the 'Book of the Year' Award in the Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards. This is an award voted for by fans across the globe and the awards honour the best in research, creativity and film preservation. An impressive physical award will make it to Scotland soon!

NGS are particularly pleased that the book - which is by a first-time author and their own first book in this field - has been selected by dedicated fans across the world from a formidable list of titles by publishers and authors who are already very well-established in this genre.

You can now also visit the exhibition at NGS Modern Gallery Two in Edinburgh until 20 February 2022 (booking required).

Other winners at the Rondo Awards included the modern remake of The Invisible Man (voted Best Film), The Mandalorian (picked for a second year as Best Television Show), and George Pal's 1953 epic, War of the Worlds (Best Blu-Ray and restoration).
