Writers of Cranachan book thanked in Scottish Parliament
28 May 2020
It's not often that writers and publishers get a mention in the
Scottish Parliament but the writers of Stay at
Home! - a book published by Cranachan Publishing - are
among that select group.
Stay at Home! Poems and Prose for Children in
Lockdown is a a free anthology of poems and stories for
children aged 8-12, comprising specially written lockdown-themed
contributions by 40 writers based in Scotland and wonderfully
illustrated by Darren Gate. You can download a copy from
the Cranachan Publishing website or from BooksfromScotland.com.
The motion thanking those involved (and the children of
Scotland) was lodged on 26 May 2020 by MSP Christine Grahame and
reads:
'Stay at Home! Poems and Prose for Children in Lockdown
That the Parliament welcomes the creation of Stay at Home!
Poems and Prose for Children in Lockdown, an anthology for
children edited by the Borders-based author, Joan Haig, which
brings together pieces by 40 children's writers from across
Scotland; notes that it will be released on 28 May 2020 as a free
eBook published by Cranachan Publishing and hosted by Publishing
Scotland's Books from Scotland; understands that it is dedicated to
children, aiming to recognise and thank them for their rainbows,
handwashing and sacrifices during the COVID-19 crisis; thanks the
writers who have contributed, and thanks the children of Scotland
for their efforts during the pandemic.
