Raspberry Creative Type

Raspberry Creative Type offers cover design and typesetting services. This involves the internal and external design of books and all promotional material from concept through to final print-ready artwork, including creating e-books.

Heather has over 12 years experience in publishing, working in a variety of sectors and can therefore offer a bespoke package to suit your requirements. Her client base includes major UK publishers and self publishers.

Raspberry Creative Type is also involved in the project management of books organizing editors, proof readers, picture research, photographers and printers.

Our staff have extensive experience of managing print and digital projects from raw copy to final publication. Sharon McTeir, Creative Publishing Services

Design and typesetting:

  • I have 20+ years experience in designing and typesetting books, including fiction, non-fiction, reference, educational and foreign language books.
  • Other subject areas include: art, craft, gardening, environmental, puzzles, poetry, novels, biography and different types of books for children.
  • I typeset in Adobe InDesign and Arbortext 3B2.
  • I can work from a variety of original data formats including Word, Excel and coded data like XML.
  • I work with a variety of plug-ins for InDesign when typesetting scientific and maths projects, and right-to-left languages.
  • Good understanding of automation techniques including grep functions, and the creation of templates.
  • I have worked on a number of publishing-related branding projects – books, logos, stationery, website etc.

 

Picture research:

  • Experienced in clearing print/digital rights and negotiating fees/rights from a wide variety of sources, and have a large list of industry contacts.
  • Commissioning of illustrators and photographers.
  • Very experienced in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Metadata input.
  • Can work with publishers’ in-house DAM systems, including remotely.

Lumphanan Press

The Lumphanan Press is a publishing house for self-publishers. We help to guide authors through the many different and specialised elements to self-publishing, providing the advice and skills necessary to produce a professional final publication.

We’re a small and friendly company, based in rural Aberdeenshire but covering the whole of Scotland, who offer a full range of publishing services from editorial through to design, sales and marketing. We’re flexible in our approach and are happy to take on anything from a quick short-story proof-read to a full publication package.

We also have experience of copy-editing for university academics and doctoral students, and can offer book-design & typesetting services to clients in the publishing trade. We have a particular speciality in the design and typesetting of poetry, although we work across all genres of fiction and non-fiction.

Jane’s produced fiction, non-fiction, verse, text-book and academic titles. She recently set up a micro press, Jane’s Studio Press, she enjoys working with her favourite authors and poets to produce and publish beautiful books.

Biblichor Book Production

Established in 2016, Biblichor provides typesetting and design services to independent publishers, academic institutions and heritage bodies.

We produce many fiction, non-fiction, verse, text-book and academic titles. Our particular expertise is in design-led and image-heavy projects and we are experienced working in foreign languages including Gaelic, Russian, Japanese and the languages of China, Oceania and the Middle-East.

Our other services include the creation of facsimile content for out-of-print analogue titles, eBook/epub, open source, reprographic, art-working and data entry/conversion.  We can offer cost-saving advice on unusual or complex projects and we’re happy to tackle messy, fragmented or heavily copy-edited manuscripts.
