Doric Books

Doric Books is a Community Interest Company (CIC) which exists to benefit the Doric speaking community. Aaron Gale (author and illustrator) and Jackie Ross (author and storyteller) established Doric Books due to their shared passion for the mither tongue of the North-East of Scotland.

What We Do

  • Publish books written solely in Doric.
  • Provide an outlet for other Doric authors to sell their books via our website.
  • Deliver Doric workshops and events in schools, care homes and other community settings.
  • Work in partnership with local organisations to create new materials in Doric.

Our Aims

  • To publish all kinds of Doric material for people of all ages.
  • To be part of a world where Scots is fully recognised as a language and where local cultural identity and diversity is valued.

Lumphanan Press

The Lumphanan Press is a publishing house for self-publishers. We help to guide authors through the many different and specialised elements to self-publishing, providing the advice and skills necessary to produce a professional final publication.

We’re a small and friendly company, based in rural Aberdeenshire but covering the whole of Scotland, who offer a full range of publishing services from editorial through to design, sales and marketing. We’re flexible in our approach and are happy to take on anything from a quick short-story proof-read to a full publication package.

We also have experience of copy-editing for university academics and doctoral students, and can offer book-design & typesetting services to clients in the publishing trade. We have a particular speciality in the design and typesetting of poetry, although we work across all genres of fiction and non-fiction.

Please get in touch for an informal discussion of your project and to find out how we might be able to help.

Services include:
Editorial & proof-reading (covering both English and Scots), copywriting, indexing, book-design, typesetting, cover design, sales and marketing, ebook creation and more.

Pipin’s Book

The beginnings of publishing house Pipin’s Book go back to 2011 and our Slovenian roots. We are a sister company of the Slovenian Publishing House Pipinova Knjiga – which literary translates to Pipin’s Book.

We are primarily dedicated to Slovenian – British alliance, bringing Slovenian books to the UK market and bringing books of British authors to the Slovenian market.

Our focus area is educational publishing. This could be in the form of expanding the richness of vocabulary for young readers; raising environmental awareness among children; presenting ideas on how to lead a healthier life style; or following the development of professional athletes through their sport. We are constantly looking for innovative programs and teaching approaches and we are continuously preparing a variety of material which supports education from pre-school years onwards, helping teachers, children and parents to navigate through the guidelines of educational systems.
