The National Library of Scotland: Board Members

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday 25 November 2022.

The National Library is the largest library in Scotland, one of the pre-eminent research libraries in Europe and the major centre for the study of Scottish literature and culture. In recent years it has developed a reputation for highly innovative approaches to widening access to its collections and expanding engagement with the many diverse communities in Scotland. This remains the core theme of the Library’s strategy, ‘Reaching People’.

The Library seeks Board members who reflect the many and diverse communities in Scotland and who can bring their lived experience, as well as their skills and knowledge to the Board.

We are interested particularly in candidates who have the ability and experience to contribute at a strategic level and the capacity and commitment to grow in the role and develop their skills, whether or not they have prior experience of being on a Board.

We also need one person who has had a significant role as a finance professional involved with organisations preferably of similar complexity to the Library.

Scottish Ministers particularly welcome applications from people with protected characteristics, such as: disabled people, LGBTI+ people, those from minority ethnic communities, people aged under 50 and women.

For full details and to apply, see the Scottish Government website.
