Leafing Through Natural Scotland

Summer Exhibition and Book Festival

Publishing Scotland was delighted to work with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh to celebrate the Year of Natural Scotland 2013. We put together a weekend book festival and a beautiful exhibition of books and artefacts from our members.

The Exhibition - 11 May to 31 July

You can see some of the books in the exhibition in the leaflet we published to accompany the event. The display highlighted Scotland's natural beauty through its great variety of writing and publishing. And what better space to do it in than the Botanics.

The exhibition showcased some of the many of titles that come out of Scotland each year. There were titles on: foraging, gardening and growing your own vegetables; studies of wild flowers, woodlands and fossils; explorations of munros, rivers and oceans; children's titles highlighting seabirds and beautiful coastlines; and a celebration of whisky, delicious seafood and the many locations in which to enjoy them. The titles were also on sale in the Botanics shop.

The exhibition ran from 11 May to 31 July 2013, in the Gateway Gallery, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.

The Book Festival - Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June

The book festival was a great success with a variety of wonderful speakers, walks and storytelling. There are a selection of images here from across the weekend. See also the flyer which was produced to publicise the event.
