Cathy Tingle has many years’ experience in academic and business publications. After completing her PhD in English Literature she spent a decade producing marketing communications materials – annual reports, product leaflets, magazines and directories – for an educational awarding body. Following a four-year stint as editor of the Edinburgh for Under Fives guidebook she trained in copy-editing and proofreading with Publishing Scotland under Margaret Aherne and is now an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading.

Cathy has copy-edited more than 100 undergraduate-level textbooks in subjects from theatre and media to law and health sciences for publishers such as Palgrave, Routledge and Bloomsbury, plus journal articles and fiction, under her business name, DocEditor (www.doceditor.co.uk). She also works as an information commissioning editor for the CIEP.

Recently these have included academic editing and copy-editing for journalists.
