Patrick Nolan

Patrick Nolan joined Penguin Books as Associate Publisher and Editor in Chief in 2012 after serving for twelve years as Trade Paperback Sales Director for Penguin Group. Now overseeing the editorial direction and shape of Penguin Books' publishing program which includes many current bestsellers including Alexander Hamilton, The Boys in the Boat, The Perfect Nanny (Chanson Douce), and Drawdown.  As an editor, his list of current and forthcoming authors includes Matt Haig (How To Stop Time), Alex Gilvarry (Eastman was Here), Anders Rydell (The Book Thieves), Matthias Hollwich (New Aging), Daniel Klein (Every Time They Find the Meaning of Life, They Change It), Chris Anderson and David Sally (The Numbers Game), Benjamin Taylor (The Hue and Cry and Our House), and Jenn Agg (I Hear She's a Real Bitch). In his previous role as Sales Director he contributed to such long-running bestsellers as Eat, Pray, Love; The Omnivore's Dilemma; The Secret Life of Bees; The Kite Runner; and The Help. He also served five years as Marketing Director of Perigee and has been Associate Publisher of Riverhead Books and Trade Paperback Marketing Director for Portfolio and Sentinel. Before coming to Penguin Group, Patrick was Sales Director for Disney/Hyperion and worked at Houghton Mifflin and Waterstones Booksellers. He is the co-chair of the Trade Executive Advisory Committee of the AAP and has taught in NYU's MA in Publishing Program for three years. He is the Board Chair for Animal Care Centers of NYC, the second largest open admissions shelter in North America. He has a BA in History from Columbia College and an MA in Peace Studies from the University of Ulster. He lives in Brooklyn with his husband and two dogs.
